There are no entry requirements for the course, other than having an interest in changes in technology or working in an environment where electric vehicles operate. It is recommended that you will hold 3 GCSEs in English, Maths and a Science-based unit.

This IMI Accredited course is one of the first qualifications of its kind to address electric and hybrid vehicle technology.
This course is ideal for those in the following sectors:
- The retail automotive industry
- The public service sector e.g. members of the emergency services; who may attend an accident involving an electric vehicle
- The maintenance, service, and/or handling of electric vehicles
Aim of the Course:
This accredited qualification introduces learners to electric and hybrid vehicle technology including, and in particular, the safety requirements of working on these types of vehicles, e.g. whilst carrying out servicing, or general repairs that are not related to the high energy electrical system.
During this short course you will know about electrically propelled vehicle system components and operation, understand the hazards surrounding electrically propelled vehicles, know how to reduce the risks to yourself and others when working on electrically propelled vehicles, know how to safely prepare the vehicle when carrying out maintenance and routine repair activities on electrically propelled vehicles and be able to work safely on an electrically propelled vehicle.
