Announcement:

We have two new exciting apprenticeship standards that will be offered from the MTI this Autumn. Both apprenticeship programmes are combined with a higher education qualification, the Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship and the Level 4 Propulsion Technician. The benefit of the MTI being a collaboration of educational providers means the skills escalator provides employers and individuals the opportunity to start their training at level 2 and progress to PHD level. NWSLC have worked with Coventry University on design of these programmes to ensure that they provide the right modules for industry and to support progression to Coventry Universities Degree Apprenticeships.

Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship is designed for the engineering and manufacturing sector and will equip individuals with the practical skills to work as a high-grade technician and engineers.

The automotive sector is going through significant changes and advances in technologies, it is our responsibility at the MIRA Technology Institute to ensure that we support the national skills agenda and future proof our workforce to create the right skills to meet these developments in technology.

The level 4 Propulsion Technician Apprenticeship provides training for those that are responsible for the testing or building function to support the development of propulsion systems such as internal combustion engines, hybrid and electric propulsion technology and advanced control systems.  The knowledge, skills and behaviours developed as part of this training programme will ensure that the individual can take a proactive role in development build or test delivery, taking responsibility for creating, editing, first line data analysis and quality validation, providing an essential link between the propulsion development function and engineers.

The Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship has been set-up to meet the increasing demand of occupations in roles found in small and large engineering and manufacturing operations providing products and services in the Automotive and other sectors. The broad purpose of the occupation is to provide specialist technical support for engineers, so that organisations can develop, produce or test new/existing products, processes, or procedures to meet a customer specification in terms of quality, cost and delivery, as efficiently and effectively as possible.
