To provide a firm foundation in automobile design, development and manufacture – ultimately leading to the complete design of a vehicle – with emphasis on the use of modern analytical and computer aided engineering (CAE) methods.
Areas studied include computing, elasticity, materials, mathematics and mechanics, thermodynamics, risk analysis and vehicle design, systems, and development. As well as providing you with strong analytical, modelling, experimental and design capabilities, the course will also help you to develop excellent communication and team working skills. Each year, students take part in the Formula Student competition – designing, testing and racing a new car.
